The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, Kaduna Chapter has reiterated its commitment towards compliance with the nationwide strike.

The chairman of the association, Kaduna Chapter, Comrade Abdurrasheed Abarshi who is also the the chairman Northwest forum stated this while briefing newsmen in kaduna, yesterday.

Comrade Abarshi said ‘Our purpose of gathering here is because of the strike been embarked by the national body of the parliamentary staff association of Nigeria PASAN which was directed by the National Executive Council that both state and national assembly should shut down because of the non-implementation of the financial autonomy.

“This is why we are at the Kaduna State Assembly in other to stop any staff going into the assembly because as we said and have been saying, no financial autonomy no legislative activities, we cannot afford to continue working without abiding by the constitution.”

However, Comrade Abarshi said as the workers of the legislature, they must protect the constitution because they cannot sit and see things going without due consideration.

Adding, “Legislative financial autonomy bill was initiated by the executive, so there is no reason not to implement.”

We have therefore embarked on an indefinite strike because at first, we gave twenty-one days, then 9, then another fourteen days warning strike, but all did not yield a positive result, he explained.

“We were at the attorney general office and we told him that he was supposed to be the first citizen to give directives to all to abide by the constitution and he is our executive chairman of the implementation committee, so why the delay, so our strike is indefinite because we have followed all the due process.”

“Mr. President has signed the bill into law, he has used his power to sign an executive order which means the bill must be implemented but nothing has been done, hence our action.

We are calling on the federal government to do the needful so they can be applauded in future.

We appreciate the staff of the legislature for complying with the directive, and as the deputy chairman of the PASAN forum, I want to call on all chapters to continue to abide by the directives “.
