The new Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 7, Aliyu Garba and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Commissioner of Police, Garba Haruna have been charged to work in synergy to combat crime and criminality in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, gave the charge when the duo paid him an introductory visit in his office in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

Stressing the need for synergy among all security agencies in combating crime, Bello advised the newly appointed Police Chiefs to make good use of the support of all the security apparatus based in the FCT to achieve best results.

The Minister said: “We will continue to provide you with support, in terms of logistics, hardware and even transportation.

“In fighting crimes, what has worked for us in the FCT is the joint taskforce that we have; where all the security agencies are involved. The Military, Police, DSS, Civil Defense and other paramilitary agencies like Immigration, Customs, NDLEA and even NAPTIP, because some of these criminal activities tend to go together,” he said.

In his remarks, AIG Aliyu Garba corroborated the Minister on the necessity for synergy among security agencies and community leaders, while emphasizing the need for proper intelligence gathering and sharing.

Garba disclosed that his Command has intensified efforts to sustain massive onslaught on identified black spots as well as increased night patrols, even as he solicited more support from the FCTA in the training of police personnel and provision of technology devices to combat crime in the zone.

The new FCT CP, Haruna G. Garba, said that his Command would carry out more raids of criminal hideouts and black spots to fish out criminals.

He urged FCT residents to divulge credible information to the Police to assist them in fighting crime in the Territory.
