The Defence Headquarters say there is no hiding place for the terrorists in the Nigeria.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami made this known during the Bi-Weekly News briefing in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
He said the briefing covered the period between 4th of May to 18th of May, 2023.
General Danmadami said that “due to the intensity of military operations in North East, some terrorists are migrating to the North Central”.
He urged the populace to avail the military and other security agencies with credible Information that will help them in mopping up the terrorists, kidnappers and other criminals in the country.
According to him, “troops conducted clearance operations of the general area and arrested 5 suspects and recovered 3 fabricated rifles, 10 rounds of 7.62mm special, 8 cartridges, 3 mobile phones and 5 motorcycles in North Central, Nigeria.”
General Danmadami noted that troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN conducted operational activities within Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of Bauchi States.
Notably, troops responded to information on an attack at Kubun village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State by gunmen.
General Danmadami said that “troops on arrival evacuated those that sustained injuries to the hospital for medical attention”.
Consequently, within the weeks in review, troops recovered 3 fabricated rifles, 2 fabricated pistols, 2 Dane guns, 6 motorcycles, 1 vehicle and 31 rustled cattle.
Troops also neutralized 2 terrorists and arrested 25 suspected criminals, he added.
He said that “all recovered items, arrested suspected criminals and rescued abducted civilians have been handed over to the relevant authority for further action”.
The Director also noted that troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI sustained the onslaught against banditry, kidnapping, terrorism and other criminal activities in the North West zone of the country.
In furtherance to this, General Danmadami said the troops conducted raids, clearance and fighting patrols to identified terrorist enclaves at different locations within Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara State respectively.
According to him, troops on fighting patrol made contact with terrorists at Keta high ground in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State and following the fire fight, troops neutralised 2 terrorists while others fled.
Troops further exploited the general area and rescued 10 kidnapped civilians and recovered 1 RPG bomb, 108 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 1 telescopic sight and 1 baofeng radio.
Also, troops on fighting patrol had a meeting engagement with terrorists at Sauri hill in Tsafe Local Government Area of the same state.
General Danmadami said “Following the operation, troops neutralized 2 terrorists while others fled”.
“Troops searched the general area and recovered 10 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 5 AK47 magazines, 7 tear gas, 7 mobile phones, 2 SIM cards, 2 pairs of military camouflage, 3 pairs of combat boots, 1 pair of police uniform, 6 jungle hats, 3 pullover jackets and 1 fragmental jacket among other items,” General Danmadami explained.
Other operations, Operation DELTA SAFE, Operation UDO KA and Operation HADIN KAI, all recorded successes in the fight against the enemies of the country.
Meanwhile, the Military High Command has commended the unrelenting efforts of troops and other security agencies in the various theatres of operations across the country.
It also appreciated the entire populace for the support given to the members Armed Forces and other security agencies in the conduct of our various operations across the country.
The command urged them to continue to provide prompt and credible information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements, in their respective areas to the security agencies.
One minute silence was observed for those officers and other security agents that paid the supreme price in the cause of their duties.
