Arise Televison Shine At Nigeria Broadcasting Awards

A private television in Nigeria, Arise Televison, has won the best television station of the year while Nigeria Info FM, clinched the Best Radio station of the Year at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA) ceremony held in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The event which was organised by the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), took place at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Radio and television stations, presenters, and reporters were celebrated for their remarkable works in the Nigerian broadcasting space, some other categories include Best radio/TV English Language, Best Radio/TV indigenous language, best documentary radio/Tv among others.

The Nigeria Broadcasting Awards (TNBA) is aimed at recognising and celebrating professionalism and excellence in the Nigerian broadcasting.

The awards, according to BON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, John Ugbe, would inspire up and coming talents and spur broadcast professionals to do more for the industry.
“As an organisation, BON’s vision is to foster a future-proof environment for radio, TV and new media broadcasters to serve their audiences and contribute to the development of our society. We consider it equally important to reward excellence and project the Nigerian broadcasting industry as one committed to continual improvement of standards,” he said.

One of the award recipient Mr. Adeleye Bakari of Radio Nigeria who won best reporter for Radio could not hide the excitement, as he encourage other broadcasters to keep up the good work.

“I heard about the entry and decided to give it a try. Luckily I emerged a winner. I must say am very happy, because Journalists don’t always get this privilege of being rewarded for so much hard work. Am really grateful to God for this opportunity”. he says

“I feel so excited because I wasn’t expecting it. I have always hard this dream of making an impact in what ever I decided to do, so when I found myself in the media space I decided to impact life through journalism and here we are today”.

The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria was Launched last year to recognise and celebrate excellence in the Nigerian broadcasting industry,
The awards ceremony earlier scheduled for last year recognised 20 categories across radio and television broadcasting.

Submitted entries underwent a rigorous vetting process by a jury panel headed by the former Director-general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC),

In addition to honouring creatives in the broadcasting industry, the awards also acknowledged the contributions of individuals, such as the founder of Africa Independent Television, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, and Senator Mike Ajegbo, the founder of Minaj Broadcasting International (MBI).

Equally recognised for their support to the industry were MultiChoice Nigeria and Indomie, among others.

The glamorous event brought together influential voices that had captivated audiences with compelling stories through radio and television media.
