US President, Joe Biden has announced the Presidential Delegation to attend the Inauguration of Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu on May 29.
A statement on Tuesday by the US Embassy in Abuja said the US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Marcia Fudge, will lead the delegation.
It also indicated other members of the Presidential delegation to include the Chargé d’Affaires, US Embassy, Abuja, David Greene; Under-Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, US Department of Commerce, Marisa Lago, and Commander of US Africa Command, General Michael Langley.
Others are: Enoh T. Ebong, Director, US Trade and Development Agency; Mary Catherine Phee, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of African Affairs, US Department of State; Judd Devermont, Special Assistant to the US President and Senior Director for African Affairs, National Security Council, and Monde Muyangwa, Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Africa, US Agency for International Development.
Activities for the inauguration begin formally on Thursday with the investiture of the President- Elect and Vice-President- Elect with the National Honors of Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), respectively, and Hand-over of Transition Documents.
On Friday, there will be public lecture and Jumaat prayer, while on Saturday, an inauguration lecture will be delivered on the topic “Deepening Democracy for Integration and Development” by former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta.
The inauguration parade and swearing-in will take place on Monday, may 29.
