Oyo Governor Dissolves State Executive Council

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council.

The governor also terminated the appointments of political office holders, urging them to hand over government property in their custody.

The dissolution, which takes immediate effect,  however exempted all political office holders in statutory commissions.

Transition and inauguration

Makinde gave the directive in a letter dated 23rd of May, 2023 and signed by his Chief of Staff who also doubles as the Chairman, Transition & Inauguration Committee, Mr Segun Ogunwuyi.

The statement reads: “I have the directive of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to inform you of the dissolution of the Oyo State Executive Council and the termination of the appointment of all political office holders with effect from today, Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

“All political office holders are required to officially hand over and submit all government properties in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

“Please note that political office holders in statutory commissions are excluded from this directive.

The Governor appreciates the tremendous contributions of all the office holders to the development of the State and wishes them success in future.
