Ebonyi State Government has condemned the unwarranted killings of people in Obegu and Nkaleha communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of the State by suspected herdsmen.

The Spokesperson of Association of Local Government of Nigeria ALGON, who is the Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Mr Paul Nwogha stated this while briefing Journalists on the resolutions of the Chairmen of Council Areas and the Coordinators of Development Centers in the state as it concerns the attack by the herdsmen.

Mr Nwogha said the Governor of the State, Engineer David Umahi has  tried to ensure peaceful coexistence in the state which made the attack on innocent  herdsmen to be unwarranted and callous.

He said the killing was worrisome and unacceptable.

“We gave out peace to the herdsmen and all they could return back to the States is to kill over 25 persons. That is very cruel to such peaceful and accommodating State like Ebonyi. We are here, full of tears on what happened in the State…Nothing on Earth would excuse such inhuman act because it’s unprovoked,”Nwogha lamented.

He said the law against open grazing would be fully implemented.

“From today henceforth, we support the law against open grazing and anybody who wants to practice that should be ready for the wrath of the State because it would be resisted in a highest term,” Nwogha stated.

He said they gave security agencies 72 hours to fish the pepatrators and bring them to book.

He urged the people of the area affected to remain calm to enable security do their work.

The Chairman assures Ebonyi people of protection of lives and properties as Local vigilantes have been deployed to all the Council Areas in the State particularly the problem areas.
