The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abdullahi Adamu Candido has charged residents of the Council to protect and guard government’s infrastructures in their domain jealously so that the whole essence of those projects will not be defeated.
The Chairman made the charged while on an inspection and commissioning of critical projects executed in some communities within the council for the betterment of the residents.
Candido who solicited the continuous support and cooperation from the residents, said doing so will enable government to continue to deliver dividend of democracy to its citizenry.
He stressed that some of the projects that were completed and commissioned if properly guarded and protected will improve the livelihood of people living in those areas.
Projects commissioned by the Chairman were 480 Meters Road with drainages and several Culverts at Toge Village, in Gui Ward of the Council to ease the interconnectivity of the villages and boost the business activities around the area council.
Another important projects is the Newly Rehabilitated Asphalt Access road in Pyakasa.
The team also inspected and commissioned another Primary Health Centre that at Kaba, Gwagwa Ward.
While at the Chief of Jiwa Palace, the Chairman also commissioned the Chief palace after it has been upgraded to a model one.
When asked if other palaces within the council will be upgraded, Candido noted that, AMAC is embarking on Upgrading of 4 graded Chief’s Palaces namely, Karu, Karshi, Jiwa and Garki.
He added that, the two that were completed are Karu and Jiwa, revealing that, that of Karu will be commissioned on Friday.
According to him, “the initiative to upgrade the palaces of the four paramount chiefdoms in AMAC was aimed at helping to achieve success and maintain peace in the localities of the council. Simply to commission and put to use the projects for the good of the people.
For the purpose of clarity, this is one out of the four palaces earmarked for upgrade. These upgraded facilities for our traditional rulers are those of the four graded chiefs in AMAC“.
“Two palaces in Karu and Jiwa are completed, while one is ongoing in Karshi. And the one that hasn’t even commence is the Sape’yi place in Garki village, because of some technicalities of resettlement of the people. So we are focusing on three palaces, and we have been to achieve 100% completion for the two palaces, and the Karshi is ongoing, and I believe that in the next two months we should be done with it”, he added.
Earlier, the Director of works, AMAC, Arch. Gaza Andrew during the commissioning said, the Pyakasa Asphalt Access road is about 750metres with several culverts; cross culverts and passing culverts at every junction of the road to make the road durable and stand a test of time while the Toge access road is about 480metres with drainage on both sides with the earthworks accompanied with culverts, the road links with Olumi, a village nearby.
He said, “In addition, about 500metres Asphalt road with drainages on both side in the AMAC secretariat was also commisioned”.
The Chief of Pyakasa Village, Bako Josiah thanked Candido for always considering the Pyakasa people in developmental projects since his assumption in office as AMAC chairman and promised their continuous support.
Other traditional rulers who spoke at their various communities when the Chairman visited for the inspection and commissioning of projects passed vote of confidence on the Chairman and pledged to give him the needed support throughout his tenure as chairman of the council.
