Ramadan Iftar: AMAC Chairman preaches tolerance, peaceful co-existence

The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA,  Abdullahi Adamu Candido has charged residents to promote peace and harmony with one another irrespective of their religious, ethnicity or political differences,

The Chairman made the call while breaking of fast with stakeholders and some residents of the council in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

According to him,  there will be no meaningful developments without peace in the country.

The Chairman assured the residents that as an elected and number one official of the council, he will continue to execute and spread developmental projects that would cut across all the twelve wards of the council for the benefit of its residents and the nation.

He also enjoyed religious leaders, particularly the Muslims to continue to pray for the well-being of the council and the nation at large and its people, especially during this period of Ramadan fasting.

According to him, The purpose of organizing the event is to appreciate the God Almighty for the journey so far and to foster peace and unity in the country.

“I commend the Christians Brothers who honoured the invitation to break the fasting with them. I’m urging you to pray for the country peace and unity especially this time.

Candido, therefore, called on all local leaders within the council to interact with their youths and caution them against being used to incite and foment violence.

The General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority, NTA Channels 5, Mrs Fatima Abbas commended the effort of the Council Chairman for bringing people of the different religious bodies to eat at one table.

Mrs Abbas who equally admonished residents of Abuja to use the blessing of the holy month of Ramadan to pray for the country peace and unity also advised them to be intolerance with one another.
