The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Adamu Abdullahi Candido has implored Muslims faithful and other residents in the council to celebrate this year’s Eid Al-Fitr with humility and love.
Candido, who described the occasion as a period that signifies the end of the Ramadan fast, advised all residents of AMAC to go about celebrating in peace, love and unity.
While conveying the greetings of the good people and government of AMAC to Muslims and non-Muslims alike, Candido urges the residents to share what they have with their common brothers, neighbours and friends.
“Don’t eat everything alone, share it with your brothers particularly those that don’t have. That’s in the spirit of the practice of our prophet (SAW) who preaches love among his people.
“I want to urge all of us to celebrate with humility and love, and by the grace of God, Nigeria will overcome the current state of crisis that has befallen this nation”, Candido stressed.
Commenting on measures in place to ensure that there are no security breaches during the Sallah celebrations, the Council boss revealed that there has been engagement with traditional and community leaders and various heads of security agencies in AMAC to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
According to him: “We discussed security and its challenges, and how to nip in the bud most of these challenges across the twelve Wards of the Council. And we have taken note of where the flashpoints are, and we have directed on what the police should do in these areas.
“So these are some of the steps we had rightly taken now, and by the grace of God, we assure residents of AMAC that there is going to be a very peaceful celebration of Sallah because the Police and other security formations are on top of the situation.
“We, however, urge residents to respectively conduct themselves accordingly, and by the grace of God, we will be adequately protected,” he added.
