The Niger State Chapter of the  Boys Brigade has rescheduled its annual Drumline Competition, due to  the rise of Coronavirus across the country.

One of the officials of the Boys Brigade in the State, Mr Jonathan Vatsa said the organisers of the event shifted the event till next year as they did not meet up with the Covid-19 protocols.

I advise us to always observe the Covid-19 protocols…The second wave is more deadly because we cannot point to any index or suspected case. Everyone is a suspect because we have all mingled together,” he stated.

Mr  Vatsa, also commended  the state government for ensuring strict measures on Covid -19 protocols, as it is one of the surest ways to stay safe and reduce the spread of the virus across the State.

The Niger State government has directed all Civil Servants to stay at home from Monday, 21st December, 2020, till further notice except those on essential services, to curb the spread of the virus in the state.

Appreciating the activities of  security agents in the fight against banditry in the state, Mr  Vatsa further appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to increase military support and other agencies working tirelessly across the state to protect the people.

He said; “The state government is really supportive, but more is expected from the Nigerian government…Armed Bandits recently unleashed terror in parts of the state especially Rafi, Bosso, Paikoro, Munya and Shiroro Local Government areas, killing some persons and , abducting several others.”
