The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari , has urged Nigerians to be sensitive to the federal advise that a worse type of COVID-19 pandemic is yet to be ruled out in the nation.

He urged them to always adopt preventive measures and protocols in order to adhere to the warnings and efforts of tackling the deadly infections globally.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari stated this on Thursday while delivering his Eid Al fitr message to Muslim faithful shortly after he observed the two rakat prayers marking the end of the 2021 Ramadan fasting at the Ilorin Central Eid praying ground.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu .
“We give thanks to the Almighty Allah once again for granting us the grace to observe the Ramadan fasting successfully. Religious misunderstandings in the state should be addressed by the two main religious leaders” he added.
The Emir disclosed that the society had gone far enough to prevent leashing violent reactions on any matter that ought to have been settled amicably stressing that fasting has come and gone and that all restraints exhibited while it lasted should be continued and the end of fasting should not be the end of personal discipline.
The monarch wished those who are performing this year’s holy pilgrimage (Umrah) among them Allah’s travelling mercies and happy return to their respective homes.
“For those who are sick in the hospital and at home, we pray Allah to heal them and for those that died in the current year, may Allah grant them Al-janatul fordaos and give their families the courage and fortitude to bear the loss, the Emir added”
Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday arrived at the Ilorin Yidi Praying Ground at about 8:47am to join other Muslim faithful to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.
He was at the sacred ground to observe two rakat prerogative prayers for the festivities, which marked the termination of annual Ramadan fast.
AbdulRazaq, who wore his face mask in line with COVID-19 safety guidelines, arrived the sacred ground in his white hilux vehicle .
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, led the two rakat prerogative prayers after which he delivered sermon (Khutba) to round off the session.
Governor AbdulRazaq in company of other top politicians and government officials later paid traditional homage to the Emir of Ilorin in his palace.
Conventional and non-conventional security personnel mounted surveillance were earlier drafted in and around the praying ground to forestall breakdown of law and order.
The state police command had issued a warning alert 48hours before the festival warning those it identified as ‘subversive elements’ from causing mayhem, using the praying ground as avenue.
In an exclusive interview with VON Correspondent, the state Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Bagega said the festival went on peacefully without hitches or any form of criminality.
The police boss commended security personnel and the people of the state for maintaining law and order before, during and after the festival.
