Ebonyi State Flags Off School Sports Competitions Second Phase

Following the successful completion of the first phase of the Ebonyi State school sports competitions at the Local Government level, the State Government will flag off the second stage on Monday 24th May, 2021 to further harness the sporting potentials of the students.

The State Commissioner for Education, Onyebuchi Chima, stated this while addressing journalists on the efforts made so far in the on-going sports activities of the State. He said the first stage covered the 13 Local Government Areas of the State.

Chima also encouraged individuals to take part in sporting activities, as it is a panecia for peace as it unites all and sundry in the society. He also informed the general public that the Ebonyi State School system has been revitalised to the extent that any child, irrespective of your class in the society, can comfortably study in the public schools.

“Schooling and sporting are one, it is not going to affect the academic activities of the students,” Chima added. “The sports will harness their brains for studies.”

The State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Charles Akpaenika,  said his Ministry is prepared for the flag off on Monday.

“The Zonal stage would commence on Monday 24th 2021, all different Local Government Areas have been assigned with different sporting activities to engage in,” Akpaenika said.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical Services, Dr. Richard Nwabu, said the medical team would be there to adequately cover the area of health delivery during the sport event.

Dr. Nwabu said the medical kits to be used are ready.
