Ebonyi State: NYSC flags off 2021 orientation course

The Ebonyi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Mercy Bamai Dawuda has flagged off the three weeks orientation course for the 2021 batch ‘A’ stream II corps members.

The Coordinator said the purpose of NYSC is for the unity of Nigeria.

“The main objective of NYSC Scheme is to instil in the Corps members discipline and for integration and unity of Nigeria and to achieve this, the service year has been carefully planned and segmented into four cardinal programs namely; Orientation, Primary assignment, Community Development Service (CDS) and winding up and passing out, Bamai explained.

Moreso, Bamai said the course is also for self-reliance.

“The three weeks orientation exercise is packaged to instil a sense of self-reliance needed to face the challenges ahead of the service year, Bamai added.

She advised the Corps members to adhere to the COVID 19 protocol as stipulated by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control  NCDC and Federal Ministry of Health.

She thanked the state Governor, Engr David Umahi for given NYSC enabling environment to operate.

Bamai also thanked the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Elvis Ngene who was represented by Justice Chris Eze who administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.

The three weeks orientation course is taking place at the NYSC permanent Camp, Old Maccgrigor College Affikpo North Local Government Area of the State.
