The Kwara State Technical Committee on Covid-19, has announced a partial lockdown between 12am and 4:30am daily till further notice.

This is to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.

The committee, through the state commissioner for Health, Dr Raji Razaq, made this disclosure on Wednesday in Ilorin while addressing newsmen on the new guidelines, as the second wave of the disease is biting hard.

New guidelines
Razaq said the committee has now mandated the appropriate use of face mask in public places while it banned concerts/carnivals and clubbing until further notice.

The committee also announced that only 50 people will be allowed at worship centres, this is to allow for physical distancing.

Other gatherings (formal and informal) exceeding 50 people are also disallowed, the committee added.

It therefore, reiterated the protocol of ‘No face mask, no entry’ at all public places.

According to the committee, civil servants are to work from their homes while the only exemptions are essential workers, especially in the health sector while virtual meetings are encouraged.

Transporters are also to enforce all Covid-19 protocols, including proper use of face mask by drivers and passengers.

The committee said it would apply appropriate sanctions to defaulters while revealing that security agencies will deploy all lawful means to enforce these protocols.

The committee said it will communicate on school resumption soon as these new guidelines take effect from Thursday December 24, 2020.

The new guidelines are subject to reviews as situations dictate, the committee further explained.
