The Chairman, Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari has warned APC members, especially political appointees and party executives to refrain from constituting consultation groups ahead of 2023 general elections.

A statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Aro Folaranmi, quoted  the Chairman as saying that such early consultations were capable of causing distraction in governance and polarisation among party organs.

He warned that such early politicking was hasty, premature and capable of undermining the unity of purpose of the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration.

According to the statement, government officials and party executive members should desist from accompanying choice aspirants on consultations in furtherance of their 2023 political ambitions.

It said that such actions no doubt, was a distraction and was totally unacceptable as it could divide members of the party prematurely.

The statement stressed that the party henceforth directs that members of government or party executives are forbidden from accompanying anyone with political ambitions for any consultations forthwith as punitive measures await anyone who defies the directive.

“For now, members should concentrate their campaign efforts on how to maintain and sustain a harmonious working relationship among members as well as working hard under a peaceful environment to attract more converts into our Party – A.P.C. preparatory to 2023 General Elections” the statement added.

The statement emphasized that at the appropriate time, party shall issue guidelines on politicking when all aspirants would be given fair political space to exercise their political rights, and warned that sanctions await anyone that flouts this directive.
