2nd Anniversary: Kwara State Assembly passes 14 Bills

The Speaker of the Kwara State 9th House of Assembly, North Central Nigeria, Engineer Yakubu Danladi-Salihu says the house has passed a total of 14 Bills in the last two legislative years.

According to the lawmaker, during the period under review, the House also considered 29 Reports, while 32 Motions were moved with resolutions passed on them.

Danladi-Salihu disclosed this during a Special Plenary marking the second anniversary of the legislature in the state.

He stated that the legislators have always ensured that considerations and passages of all Money Bills, especially the Appropriation Bills, conformed with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state and as well meet international standards.

“The House has also ensured that all bills and other legislative functions affecting key sectors such as health, education, social security, youth employment and job creation, land and housing, commerce, women affairs, people with disability, child rights, works and transport, received the desired attention”, he said.

Provision of infrastructure
Danladi-Salihu further explained that the lawmakers did not leave provision of infrastructure solely in the hands of the Executive as they facilitated  in their various constituencies, construction of classrooms and health facilities, sank boreholes and opened up rural roads under the Grassroots Development Project, an initiative of the present administration in the State that commenced in 2020 stressing that all the projects under this initiative have been completed and delivered for the use of our people.

He disclosed that the feats recorded by the 9th Legislature in the last two years in office were as a result of the dedication, loyalty and zeal of the management and staff of the Assembly under the Clerk and the crops of staff.

Satisfied with the performances of the legislators, the state governor,  AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the lawmakers as patriots.

According to him, they have shown adequate understanding of the development needs of the state and are making sacrifices required to pull through the phase.
