The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibril Ndace, has said that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is to amplify Nigeria’s true voice.

He made this assertion in a welcome address at the inaugural VON Forum 2025 held in Abuja.

The event brought together stakeholders from the media, military, civil society, and diplomatic circles to explore how credible information and citizen participation can strengthen national security and promote a positive image of Nigeria.

Addressing participants, Mallam Ndace stated that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a theme but a national vision. “Every Nigerian hopes to contribute meaningfully to the nation, and security becomes truly effective when people are involved.”

Quoting former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, he reminded the audience that “There is no development without security, and no security without development.”

He emphasised the critical role of the media in combating misinformation, particularly in an age where false narratives spread rapidly. “Accurate information is essential to tackle misinformation. Voice of Nigeria is committed to amplifying truth, promoting integrity, and supporting national development,” he declared.

Mallam Ndace also announced that VON would soon expand its international broadcasts. “Before the end of the year, Voice of Nigeria will begin transmission in Mandarin and Portuguese. In addition, nine more languages will be added to broaden our diplomatic and global media reach,” he revealed.

In a rousing tribute to Nigeria’s military and security personnel, the DG said the event was not to lament but to recognise their sacrifices. “Our heroes should be celebrated for their doggedness and selflessness. We must change the narrative and tell stories that honour their efforts.”

He called for collaboration among all Nigerians, stressing that security and national progress must not be left solely in the hands of government agencies. “It is a collective responsibility, and the media must play its part by being a platform for dialogue, not division,” he said.

With this new initiative, VON aims to take the lead in rebranding Nigeria globally, highlighting its potential, resilience, and hope. “We are offering our platform as a reliable space to project something good and relevant. Let us speak in one voice and champion the message of renewed hope, for Nigeria and for generations to come,” Ndace concluded.

The event also featured panel discussions, media strategy sessions, and a commitment to sustained engagement with security stakeholders, affirming VON’s dedication to national development through responsible and people-centred journalism.
