The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured Nigerian pilgrims currently in Saudi Arabia that concerted efforts are underway to fast-track their return journey to the country.

Amid the busy peak season air traffic, the Commission, State Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards, and official air carriers are making efforts to accelerate the return airlift and ensure a smooth journey home for all pilgrims.

According to NAHCON, the fewer trips currently being experienced are due to high demand for airport slots, managed by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia. However, the commission is actively engaging with Saudi authorities to secure more slots, which will enable the scheduling of more daily flights.

Presently, FlyNas is operating two flights per day, and NAHCON plans to secure more convenient slots for UMZA Aviation, Air Peace, and Max Air. With large-bodied aircraft, the return journey is expected to pick up pace significantly.

NAHCON appreciates the patience of pilgrims and their officials, assuring them that all stakeholders are working round the clock to ensure a quicker return trip for everyone. The commission aims to complete the return airlift by June 28, 2025.
