Speaker Abbas Condemns Borno Suicide Bombing, Kano Explosion

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives following the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, and the explosion in Kano over the weekend.

Speaker Abbas condemned the incidents, describing them as gruesome and barbaric.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker decried the rising spate of attacks and fatalities from various incidents across the country in recent times. He called on security and intelligence agencies to remain vigilant at all times.

On Friday night, a female suicide bomber detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at a crowded fish market in Konduga, Borno State, killing 12 people and injuring 18 others. According to the Borno State Police Command, the attacker had infiltrated a group of civilians before triggering the device at around 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday in Kano State, a military mortar bomb exploded along the Eastern Bypass in Kano, the state capital, resulting in the deaths of five individuals.

Speaker Abbas called for collaborative efforts between the government, its agencies, and the public to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He also urged relevant humanitarian agencies to provide support for the victims and their families, while praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
