The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged Corps Members to remain dedicated to contributing their quota to Nigeria’s development across all sectors during their one-year mandatory service.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the advice while addressing members of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream Two at the NYSC Orientation Camps in Ede (Osun State), Iseyin (Oyo State), and Sagamu (Ogun State), all in South-West Nigeria.
Brigadier General Nafiu, who reminded the Corps Members that evasion of service and abscondment attract severe penalties, advised them to complete their service and obtain the Certificate of National Service before considering any foreign travel, if necessary.

He further cautioned them against abandoning their national service in pursuit of greener pastures abroad.
The Director General also encouraged Corps Members to remain security-conscious and avoid any actions or ventures that could put their lives at risk.
He admonished them to strictly adhere to the NYSC dress code, emphasising that improper dressing is not tolerated within the Scheme.
“Dress responsibly, make good friends during the service year, and invest your time positively,” he advised.
