Kaduna Governor Commends WHO Partnership On Health Improvements

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has commended the partnership between the state government and the World Health Organization (WHO), noting that it has significantly improved immunisation coverage and strengthened the prevention and control of disease outbreaks.

Governor Sani made the remarks during an advocacy visit by the WHO team to the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna. He added that the collaboration has also enhanced disease surveillance systems and continues to promote universal health coverage across the state.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, explained that ‘ ’the technical and operational support provided by the WHO team has helped us respond swiftly and effectively to challenges, from polio eradication to addressing endemic and epidemic disease”.

Balarabe said that the visit’ provides an opportunity to deepen collaboration, align priorities, and jointly explore new strategies to address the persistent and emerging health needs of our communities.

‘’We are specially keen to strengthen local capacity, ensure sustainability of health interventions, and reach underserved populations” she said.

The Deputy Governor who is also a medical doctor, affirmed that Kaduna State is committed to investing in the health and well-being of our people

‘’Through strategic reforms and infrastructure development, we have expanded access to primary health care, improved maternal and child health services, and strengthened the state’s disease surveillance architecture”, She stressed.

‘added also that, “We recognize that more work is needed to achieve resilient, equitable, and people-centered healthcare delivery,’’

While appreciating WHO for its continuous support to Kaduna State and Nigeria at large in advancing public health, strengthening health systems, and responding to emergencies, she promised Kaduna State’s commitment to a robust partnership.
