Women Affairs Minister Pays Tribute to Former President Buhari

The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has expressed her heartfelt condolences to the family of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London.

In a statement released by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jonathan Eze, the minister described Buhari’s death as a profound national loss, noting that he served Nigeria with “dedication and commitment.”

She acknowledged the former president’s efforts in promoting the welfare of women and children, which she said were instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s development agenda.

“His leadership and policies impacted millions, promoting initiatives that advanced the welfare of women and children—crucial components in the nation’s development narrative,” she said.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim, while reflecting on her role, noted that the strides made in women’s empowerment and gender equality during Buhari’s administration remain significant milestones.

“As Minister of Women Affairs, I recognise the strides made during his administration in empowering women and advocating for gender equality,” she stated.

She further described Buhari as a leader remembered for resilience, integrity, and a strong vision for a prosperous Nigeria.

“His legacy will continue to inspire future generations as we navigate the challenges of nation-building,” she added.

The minister called on all Nigerians to reflect on the values the late president stood for, and to honour his memory through acts of unity and service.

“Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time, and we stand in solidarity with all who mourn his passing.May his soul rest in peace,” she concluded.
