ECOWAS Mourns Nigeria’s Former Leader, General Buhari

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved, Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the entire Nigerian people for the passing of the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement by the ECOWAS Commission, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr Omar Alieu Touray, stressed that “it is with deep sorrow that the world learnt of the passing of His Excellency General Muhammadu BUHARI, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

 Dr. Touray added that ECOWAS salutes the memory of this distinguished statesman whose invaluable contributions greatly advanced democracy and regional integration in West Africa and across the African continent.
