The Anambra State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has conferred a merit award on Dr Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor and founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, in recognition of her exceptional contributions to public health and wellness advocacy in the state.
The award was presented during the NMA’s 2025 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference, held in Awka. According to the association, Dr Soludo was honored for her dedicated promotion of healthy lifestyles, her advocacy for maternal and child health, and her support for women’s empowerment across the state.
Describing her as the “foremost champion of healthy living” in Anambra, the NMA commended Dr Soludo for leveraging her platform to educate thousands on wellness, nutrition, and preventive healthcare.
Notably, she was the only female awardee at the event—a testament to the widespread impact her initiative has made since it was launched over three years ago.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Health and State Coordinator of the Healthy Living Initiative, Dr Afam Obidike, received the award on her behalf.
In his remarks, he thanked the NMA for acknowledging the First Lady’s efforts, stating that the recognition would further motivate her to intensify her commitment to health advocacy.
Dr Obidike, who was also honoured at the ceremony, noted that the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative has transformed the discourse on wellness and preventive healthcare across Anambra communities.

In a post shared via her verified social media account, Dr Soludo expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition, describing it as “a special win” for the entire healthy living movement.
“Earlier today, I received a special award from the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Anambra State Branch. The award recognises the work we do at Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative. I’m super pleased to have been honoured by such a prominent association,” she wrote.
“This is a very special one, and it proves again that our modest efforts are seen and appreciated. Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo has come to stay. This is for all of you who see the genuine difference in what we do. God bless you all.”
