The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has hosted Somalia’s Data Protection Authority on a virtual study tour.

The engagement followed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries, as part of a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering mutual learning and strengthening bilateral cooperation in data protection.

The Somali delegation participated in sessions designed to explore Nigeria’s data protection ecosystem and its unique regulatory models.

Representing the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, was the Commission’s Head of Legal, Enforcement, & Regulations, Barrister Babatunde Bamigboye, who led a comprehensive training on Nigeria’s evolving mandate and regulatory framework for data protection.

He stressed the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange, outlining the mutual benefits such partnerships bring to the development of sustainable data protection practices.
