Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has congratulated Africa’s “Golden girls”, the Super Falcons, on their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) continental win.
The Minister was part of a high level Federal Government delegation that cheered the girls to a hard-fought 3-2 victory at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

“Our gallant Falcons; you have not only made us proud, you have made us taller,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim said.
“Taller in confidence, taller in global recognition and taller in our collective belief that women can and will continue to lead, to win and to shine.”
On behalf all Nigerian women and girls, Sulaiman-Ibrahim, celebrated the team and described them as “more than champions; you are icons of our nation’s greatness.”

“With a stunning 3-2 triumph at the finals, you have once again etched Nigeria’s name in gold and lifted the spirit of a nation,” The Minister added.

She paid homage to Super Falcons’ grit, resilience, perseverance and team spirit.
“In awe; not just as the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development; but as a proud Nigerian woman,” she added. “Each time you step onto the pitch, you remind us that limits exist only to be broken.”

“You have carried our hopes with dignity, defended our pride with strength and inspired generations with every goal, every pass, and every drop of sweat.”
“It is more than a win but a legacy, a statement, a celebration of the resilience, excellence and boundless potential of the Nigerian woman,” the Minister concluded.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria clinched their 10th WAFCON golden trophy, defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 in a keenly contested derby dubbed “Mission X”.
Team Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was crowned the Player of the tournament, Chiamaka Nnadozie – Best Goalkeeper and Coach Justine Madugu- Best Coach of the tournament.
