The Social Democratic Party, SDP in Nigeria has held it stakeholders meeting to address issues of the party’s national leadership crisis.
The meeting which was held at the SDP National Secretariat in Abuja, and led by the Acting National Chairman of the SDP, Dr. Sadiq Gombe was to repositioned the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Dr. Gombe said that the stakeolders meeting was an opportunity for the party to get in control of the ideas, understand it, analyse the directions in focus, in order to get equalisation, priority and acceptance.
He charged the members of the party to note that it was not only the SDP that has leadership issue but all the political parties in this country.
He assured the entire members of the SDP that the leadership of the party were doing whatever necessary to stabilise the SDP ahead of the country’s general election.
He noted that the mission of the party’s leadership was to “provide Nigeria with a credible platform as an alternative. With honesty and sincerity, we will take the first step.”
He hopes that the stakeholders “can get to somewhere in the four-point range in the situation the party found itself and where, and we came to agree to move the party forward.
“In view of this, I want to take full responsibility as the leader of the party, because the gap between us and Nigeria has been deep.
“As the leader of Nigeria, we are very sorry for this.” and that “We are not supposed to be here, or being on the pages of newspaper or on the social media, or on the subject of the party’s peace conference,” he added .
