Troops rescue kidnapped victims in Zamfara

The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have successfully rescued 7 kidnapped victims while on routine patrol around Gidan Dan Nunu and Dutsi villages of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State after coming into contact with bandits on 31st December 2020.

This,  according to a statement by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations,  Major General John Enenche is in continuation of aggressive clearance operation to stamp out banditry and other sundry crimes in the North West zone of the country.

The statement said the troops of Forward Operating Base Dangulbi while on stop and search patrol on 31 December 2020, arrested one Zayanu Abdullahi from Shinkafi district with huge amount of money.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in buying of stolen cows and has been a collaborator with bandits.

According to the statement,  the troops also rescued two women and a child kidnapped by the bandits while acting on credible intelligence that bandits were operating in Kimbisawa village of Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State.

They swiftly mobilised to the village, rescuing the victims who were immediately reunited with their families.

The troops also neutralised one bandit while others escaped with gunshot wounds while on routine patrol along Batsari-Jibia road. The bandits ambushed the troops’ who responded with superior firepower.
