The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has emphasised that quality education is essential for nurturing Nigeria’s future leaders.

The President of PENGASSAN, Comrade Festus Osifo, made the statement while commissioning modern facilities at the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Tukuruwa, in Kwali Area Council, Federal Capital Territory.

“For the Nigerian child to achieve educational excellence in an ever-evolving world, they must be equipped with modern learning facilities that meet global best practices,” he said.

The project, completed in three weeks, is part of PENGASSAN Foundation’s outreach programmes aimed at giving back to society and supporting child development.

Renovated classrooms, a modern water supply system, classroom desks, notebooks, and school bags were handed over to enhance the students’ learning experience.

“We are extremely delighted to be here today with the Royal Highness and the Chairman of the Council to hand over this project executed by PENGASSAN Foundation.

“The Foundation was founded just about 24 months ago, and immediately we went into action. We have carried out interventions across the country in education, healthcare, and crisis support,” Comrade Osifo said.

“If you look at our little brothers and sisters here, you can reckon these are the leaders of tomorrow,” he said. “When you train a child, the way — in fact, the Bible says, train a child the way he or she will go, so that when the child grows, the child will not depart from it. This project goes straight to the heart of this community and betters the lives of these children,” he added.

The Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Mr Danladi Chiya, praised the initiative, pledging that the donations and facilities would be safeguarded and properly used.

“I’m so glad that PENGASSAN has demonstrated the necessity to touch the lives of Kwali people,” he said. “Indeed, the entire Kwali Area Council is honoured and happy for your intervention.”

The Royal Father of Kwali, Etsu Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, also vowed to ensure the donated facilities and learning materials are protected with utmost care.

The project not only provides modern educational facilities but also positions Nigeria as a nation where private sector initiatives actively support youth development and contribute to global educational standards.
