Jigawa Governor Unveils New Vision for State

As Jigawa State marks its 34th anniversary, Governor Umar Namadi has commended the sacrifices and resilience of past leaders whose collective efforts, he said, laid the foundation for the state’s steady growth and development.

Speaking at a press briefing at Government House, Dutse, Governor Namadi described the celebration as a moment of reflection and an opportunity to renew commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Jigawa.

He noted that, since its creation in 1991, the state has recorded significant progress in governance, infrastructure, agriculture, education, healthcare, and social development, achievements made possible by the dedication of successive administrations.

According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson Hamisu Gumel, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to build on these gains through a 12-point development agenda designed to drive inclusive growth, improve productivity, and enhance the quality of life for citizens.

‎“As we celebrate 34 years of existence, we must set our sights on a greater future. My administration is committed to building a sustainable Jigawa where every citizen can thrive,” Namadi said.

Key Reforms:

‎Highlighting key reforms, he pointed to ongoing investments in agricultural mechanisation, road construction, healthcare infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment, stressing that the initiatives aim not only to improve service delivery but also to position Jigawa as a model of innovation and good governance.

Governor Namadi also underscored the importance of collective responsibility in sustaining peace and development, calling on political leaders, traditional institutions, religious bodies, civil society, and the private sector to work together in unity.

“The progress of Jigawa is a shared responsibility. Regardless of our differences, we must work together to achieve the greater future we all desire,” he added.

Looking ahead, the governor assured residents that his administration will continue to prioritise economic diversification, job creation, and social welfare programs targeted at reducing poverty and improving livelihoods.

‎He expressed gratitude to the people of Jigawa for their trust, resilience, and support over the years, pledging that his government will remain transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering tangible results.
