Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has pledged continued support and partnership with the Voice of Nigeria (VON) as the organisation intensifies efforts to reposition itself as a globally competitive broadcaster.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday when he received the Director-General of VON, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, who is in Gombe as part of his nationwide zonal tour of the organisation’s facilities.
Malam Ndace’s visit forms part of an ongoing engagement strategy to assess the state of VON’s infrastructure, interact with staff across zonal offices and reposition the organisation in line with international media standards and technological innovations.
Governor Yahaya commended the DG’s leadership and vision, noting VON’s pivotal role in shaping public perception, strengthening national unity and projecting Nigeria’s image to the global community.
He said the state government recognises the value of strategic media partnerships and remains committed to supporting VON’s operations. The governor also expressed readiness to explore new areas of collaboration, including content sharing with Gombe State Media Corporation, cultural promotion and public enlightenment programmes.
In his remarks, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace expressed gratitude for the governor’s warm reception and consistent support for VON. He applauded Governor Yahaya’s achievements in governance and infrastructure, stressing the need for stronger institutional collaboration to enhance information dissemination, capacity building and positive image projection.
He explained that his nationwide tour is focused on revitalising VON’s regional structures and motivating staff in line with the organisation’s renewed strategic direction.
“We are working to ensure that Voice of Nigeria fulfils its mandate as Nigeria’s external broadcaster, showcasing our culture, values and developmental strides to the world in a more dynamic, digital and engaging way,” Malam Ndace affirmed.
