The duo of Oluwalade Phoebe and Momodu Veronica of the Ekiti Queens handball team have been selected to represent Nigeria at the 2025 African Women’s Youth Handball Championship.
Media Officer of the Handball Association in Ekiti, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.

Ogunsakin said the championship is scheduled to take place in Oran, Algeria, from Sept. 14 to Sept. 21.
He said the two players were selected based on their outstanding skills and performance in Handball competitions.
Ogunsakin explained that Nigeria’s U-18 Women’s Handball team has undergone thorough preparatory camping in Lagos ahead of the Championship.
He said that the championship will serve as qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s Youth World Handball Championship, as well as the IHF Women’s Intercontinental Phase.
Nigeria U-18 Handball team will depart the country for the championship on Thursday (today)
Nigeria will play in Group A, which consists of Angola, Tunisia, Kenya, Benin Republic and Madagascar.
