Anambra State has received national recognition for its commitment to environmental sustainability, with the Commissioner for Environment, Felix Odimegwu, named an Environmental Champion.

This was given by the Coca-Cola Foundation in partnership with TechnoServe Nigeria.

At the award ceremony in Lagos, Anambra was also named overall best state in aggregate performance, having recovered the highest volume of plastic waste among participating states.

Commissioner Odimegwu said “the recognition highlights the state’s ongoing initiatives in waste management and climate adaptation.”

He called for stronger collaboration between government, the private sector, and local communities to tackle Nigeria’s environmental challenges.

The award is part of a national initiative to encourage and reward sustainable environmental practices across the country.
