The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), has declared October as Pharmacy Rx Emblem Month, a new initiative to highlight the vital role of community pharmacists in ensuring safe, accessible, and professional healthcare across the country.

The National Chairman of ACPN, Ezeh Ambrose Igwekamma, described the occasion as a milestone that reaffirms the central role of community pharmacies in promoting public health and wellness.

“It gives me great honor and joy to formally declare this month as Pharmacy Rx Emblem Month. This is more than a symbolic recognition; it is a powerful statement of our profession’s enduring commitment to the health and wellbeing of Nigerians,” he stated.

Pharm. Ezeh explained that the Rx emblem, universally recognized as a symbol of trust, professionalism, and healing, represents a beacon of assurance and authenticity, especially in an era where counterfeit and substandard medicines threaten public safety.

He noted that community pharmacies remain sanctuaries where patients can confidently access genuine medicines, professional care, and reliable healthcare services.

He emphasized that community pharmacies are not merely dispensing points but essential health hubs offering expert guidance, preventive care, and patient counselling.

“Every pharmacy bearing the Rx emblem is a trusted center of excellence in healthcare delivery,” he said.

The ACPN Chairman outlined key objectives of the month-long observance, including promoting public awareness of the Rx emblem, strengthening pharmacist-community relationships, and showcasing the wide range of healthcare services provided by community pharmacies, ranging from chronic disease management to wellness support.

Pharm. Ezeh urged the public to view community pharmacies as the first point of contact for millions of Nigerians seeking healthcare solutions, emphasizing accessibility, trust, and professionalism as their hallmarks.

He called on government authorities, healthcare stakeholders, and the public to support community pharmacists in their mission to deliver quality healthcare and build healthier communities.

“Together, let us make the Rx emblem shine as a trusted guide to safe medicines, professional care, and healthier living,” he concluded.

The ACPN reaffirmed its commitment to empowering pharmacists and protecting Nigerians through quality pharmaceutical services and community-centered healthcare delivery.
