NADCEL 2021: Troops offer free medical treatment in Sokoto State

Troops of the 8 Division in the Nigerian Army has offered free medical treatment to over 3000 patients across two local governments areas in Sokoto State.

The outreach was being conducted in two local governments of Bodinga in Sifawa the home town of Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya and Dange Shuni local government area.

Flagging off the exercise in Sifawa, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Usman Yusuf, said the exercise was part of the activities line up to mark the 2021 Nigerian Army Day celebration in Sokoto State.

He explained that the outreach was meant to boost Army-Civil relations adding that it was only when the host communities were healthy that they could provide Army with useful intelligent information that would help them succeed in their theater operations.

“We will ensure you get the best medical services. We have enough drugs and medical personnel to attend to you.

” I therefore employ you to be patient and follow all the laid down rules and regulation especially COVID-19 protocol. I assure you you will all be attended to before the end of the 2-day exercise,” the GOC said.

The GOC who was represented by the Garrison Commander of the Division, Brigadier General Ralph Nneibefe, assured the people of the town that all the people around will get better treatments.

He said the exercise had shown the community that Nigerian Army has the best healthcare services delivery in the country.

The Commander added that on Saturday the General Officer Commanding 8 Division inspected health facility in the area and promised to fix the building for the overall health benefits of Sifawa town and the State.

The GOC commended the District Head of Sifawa, Buhari Tambari for giving the Army opportunity to access his people for the medical outreach.

The District Head of Sifawa, while applauding the Army for their efforts to restore peace in the country, however, prayed God to help them succeed in their various operations.

Tambari thanked the Division for choosing his community for the medical outreach.

He urged the beneficiaries to cooperate with the medical team to enable them received effective services.

The leading Medical Doctor, Major Nendangtok Dikkol, said they would treat all the common sickness, including blood screening, eye treatment and other minor surgeries.

According to him, they were targeting 3000 patients in the two local government areas.

The treatment also centred on health talk, Consultations, Dental services, laboratory services, COVID-19 Awareness and Immunization.
