Army Chief Assures Nigerians of Improved National Security

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has assured Nigerians of enhanced national security, following his strategic briefing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

Addressing journalists after the closed-door meeting, Lieutenant General Shaibu stated that his evaluation of ongoing security operations particularly his recent operational tour of the Northeast revealed significant progress and sustained improvement in the overall security situation.

Improved security across the country,” he said confidently when asked what Nigerians should expect in the coming weeks.

Lieutenant General Shaibu further disclosed that his briefing to the President encompassed the outcomes of his recent operational tour of the Northeast theatre, alongside a comprehensive assessment of the prevailing national security.

According to him, “the overall situation in the period under review remained “satisfactory,” reflecting enhanced coordination among security agencies and the continued pressure on criminal networks.”

The Army Chief added that he came to brief the President on the outcome of his visit to the Northeast region and then look at other security situations across the country, which he said was satisfactory within this period.
