The Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, has handed over the 24 students of GGCSS Maga, rescued from bandits to their parents at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
During the event, Governor Idris commended the Federal Government and the security agencies under the leadership of the Minister of State for Defence, Muhammad Bello Matawalle, for their role in rescuing the students without any complications.
The governor advised the students not to see the event as a drawback to pursuing their studies.

In her remarks, the wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Nasir Idris, urged the parents not to give room to fear in sending their children to school, emphasising that education is the bedrock of good living.
She also appreciated the efforts of the security agencies and other government officials who contributed to the rescue of the students.

The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Halima Muhammad Bande, confirmed that all the rescued students are in good health after undergoing medical examinations.
One of the parents, Mallam Iliyasu Garba Birnin Kudu, whose four children were among the abducted, expressed his gratitude for their safe rescue and commended both the Federal Government and the Kebbi State Government for their efforts in securing the students’ release.
Dignitaries who attended the event include the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Senator Adamu Aliero, and Alhaji Sa’idu Nasamu Dakin-gari.
