The United States Consulate has announced plans to partner with Anambra State through the state’s Solution Innovation District (SID), to strengthen digital innovation and economic growth.
The Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Julie McKay, revealed the initiative during a visit to the SID office in Awka for the Anambra Technology and Innovation Ecosystem Engagement.
The forum brought together U.S. delegation and local innovators to discuss opportunities for collaboration and identify areas where American support could accelerate the state’s digital transformation.
McKay said the Consulate’s engagement in Anambra is part of broader U.S. efforts to advance mutual prosperity with Nigeria by expanding cooperation in the digital economy.
She affirmed that the United States is ready to provide training and strategic support to help strengthen the state’s innovation landscape.
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Chinwe Okoli, welcomed the proposed partnership, noting that it aligns with the state government’s agenda to deepen its digital economy and expand youth access to technology skills.
She highlighted Governor Soludo’s ambition to position Anambra as Nigeria’s creative capital through large-scale human capital development.
The State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Agha-Mba, and Professor Kingsley Nwaozor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University also expressed appreciation for the U.S. government’s interest, voicing optimism that the collaboration will be both substantive and transformative for the state’s rapidly growing tech ecosystem.
