The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has intensified comprehensive security measures across Nigeria, with renewed focus on troops welfare, operational efficiency, and public trust.

The new Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja,  disclosed this in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He said Nigerian Armed Forces, under the leadership of General Oluyede, implemented robust strategies to counter prevailing security challenges across the country.

He noted that the Defence Chief consistently emphasised the need for rapid response capability and modernised operations to effectively neutralise emerging threats.

Major General Onoja stated that “General Oluyede prioritised intelligence-driven operations, enhanced surveillance, and strengthened inter-agency cooperation with other national security bodies.

“These initiatives were intended to improve synergy among forces and ensure seamless coordination in counterinsurgency efforts.”

The CDS also continued to promote community engagement as a key component of national security, fostering stronger relationships with local communities to gain vital grassroots intelligence and rebuild trust in conflict-affected areas.

To sustain the operational tempo, General Oluyede upheld professionalism, discipline, and accountability as core values guiding military conduct, maintaining that these principles were essential to restoring stability and ensuring peace in regions affected by insurgency and banditry.

In addition to operational reforms, the CDS championed increased resource allocation to address critical challenges faced by personnel on the frontlines.

He stressed that improved welfare was crucial to maintaining morale and enhancing combat readiness.

Recent welfare advancements, including the increment of Ration Cash Allowance and procurement of modern equipment, significantly boosted the motivation and resilience of troops.

General Oluyede maintained that the “Soldiers First” agenda remained central to reinforcing national defence capabilities.

Speaking on the military’s communication efforts, Major General Michael Onoja expressed appreciation to the media for their steadfast support.

He urged journalists to uphold the highest ethical standards, avoid sensationalism, and disseminate accurate information to strengthen democracy and national security.
