Aston Villa ignited the Premier League title race with a last-gasp 2-1 victory against leaders Arsenal, allowing Manchester City to close the gap to two points on Saturday.
After a horrible start to the Premier League season in which they picked up three points from five games and failed to score in any of their first four, Villa are now on a roll.
Defender Matty Cash opened the scoring for Aston Villa when he drove home a low shot in the 39th.

The Gunners were determined to find its way back into the match in the second half and were rewarded after some substitutions.
Forward Leandro Trossard came off the bench at halftime and equalised seven minutes later to give Arsenal a glimmer of hope.

Both side created chances in the end to end encounter at Villa Park, seeking to claim all three points.
However, Substitute Emiliano Buendia struck the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time with virtually the last kick of a thrilling Villa Park duel.

A frantic goalmouth scramble in the last seconds of the game secured all three points for Aston Villa, leaving the home side just three points behind Arsenal who slipped to their first defeat in 19 games in all competitions.
Arsenal have 33 points after 15 games in the Premier League, while Villa are in third place on 30 points.

Manchester City 3-0 Sunderland
Manchester City enjoyed a routine 3-0 win against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

City opened the scoring after a stunning long-range goal by Ruben Dias paved the way for three points against the season’s surprise package.
Defender Josko Gvardiol then added to Dias’s screamer, before Phil Foden wrapped it up with his sixth league goal of the season.

“It was one of our best performances of the season, against a great team, considering what they have done so far,” City manager Pep Guardiola said.
