The National Sports Commission (NSC), has applauded the participation of four outstanding young stars, who will represent Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Youth Chess Championships in Zimbabwe.

The contingent includes rising stars Agusionu Zita, Nwankwo Michelle, Nwankwo Jason, and Quickpen Deborah, all of whom have shown exceptional promise in the sport.

Their selection marks a significant moment for youth chess development in the country, as they carry Nigeria’s hopes to the continental stage.

The NSC also commended the commitment of the athletes’ parents, who accompanied them to the airport to offer encouragement and support ahead of their departure.

The Commission described this gesture as a reflection of the unity and determination that strengthens the nation’s sporting ecosystem.
