A former Gubernatorial Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Mr. Jibrin Muhammad Danbarde has formally defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).
Speaking to journalists in Gombe, Danbarde said he defected since February 2021, when the APC was revalidating the membership of the party.
Danbarde said he decided to leave the APC because of what he referred to as Bad Governance in the state, where the people were not carried along.
According to Barde, the PDP would form the government in the state in 2023, because its members are legitimate sons and daughters of the state, who are competent and credible, with integrity and irrefutable character and well prepared to takeover governance of the state in 2023.
He said the PDP was prepared to protect the sacred traditional institution in the state. “PDP is the best party that we know in the state. It has the followership, it has credible people of irrefutable character, integrity, and therefore, I want to pass this message very clear that we are prepared to take over governance, and we have enough credible people that will take over governance of the state come 2023.”
For the Chairman of the PDP in Gombe State, Rtd Major General Abnor Kwaskebe, said the PDP was on the march ahead because it had realised its past mistakes that drove some of its members from the party, but had corrected them, which was now making them now return.
“PDP is Gombe State and Gombe State is PDP. If you make a mistake and you did not correct it, that means you have been defeated. But if you make a mistake and you work relentlessly to correct, then you are out to win. We realised our shortcomings and we have corrected them and our people are coming back home. He is one out of so many that are on their way coming. Some have come we are going to formalise their return very soon,” said Kwaskebe.
He said the party had a formidable structure in place to guarantee its victory in the 2023 election, starting from the grassroots right up to the state level, while also working in synergy with party members in other states so as to have the needed strength to guarantee them victory.
