Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has congratulated Christians in Gombe State and across the world on the celebration of Christmas, urging them to use the festive season to pray for peace, unity and continued harmony in the state and the nation at large.
In a Christmas message, the governor described the season as one that reinforces enduring values such as love, peace, sacrifice and tolerance, noting that these virtues are essential for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
He said that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ provides an opportunity for reflection on the values that unite humanity, regardless of faith or background.
Governor Yahaya called on the people of Gombe State to continue to promote mutual respect and understanding among communities.
He noted that, “Gombe State remains a model of interfaith harmony, where people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds live and work together peacefully.
“This festive season reminds us of the power of love, compassion and selflessness, which are central to the teachings of Jesus Christ. These values are also vital for sustaining peace, unity and harmony in our dear state and our nation,” the Governor said.
Governor Yahaya, who also serves as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, encouraged Christians to pray fervently for peace, stability and prosperity across the region and Nigeria, particularly at a time when the country is facing economic, security and social challenges that require collective effort and resilience.
He further appealed to residents of Gombe State to remain supportive of government initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to religious tolerance, equity and inclusion.
Governor Yahaya assured the Christian community that his government would continue to carry all segments of society along in the ongoing transformation of the state.
He also highlighted the administration’s tradition of providing practical support to communities during festive periods to ease the burden of celebrations and promote shared joy.
Governor Yahaya wished Christians in Gombe State and beyond a peaceful and joyous Christmas, called on all citizens to recommit themselves to the ideals of unity, brotherhood and peaceful coexistence for the continued progress of the state.
