The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it has digitally verified over 2 million members, just one week into its nationwide e-registration drive.

The milestone was announced by APC’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru after a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting with state coordinators at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

He said the exercise, approved by the National Executive Council (NEC) in December, aims to strengthen the party’s internal organisation and operational efficiency.

Basiru said the party expects membership to surge to between 8 and 9 million following next week’s review, as states ramp up efforts.

“We’re in full throttle — coordinators who underperform will be replaced,” he warned .

He said the e-registration exercise underscores the importance of data to effective management, mobilisation and organisation of a political party, noting that the APC relies heavily on data-driven planning.

Basiru said registration was being conducted at the ward level nationwide, with multiple registration officers deployed depending on ward size.

“We have onboarded personnel in all political wards across Nigeria, with some wards having between 10 and 15 registration officers to ensure easy access for members,” he said.

He also noted that while the process is online-based, special arrangements had been made for areas affected by insecurity or poor internet connectivity.

“In such areas, data of intending members will be captured manually and uploaded in locations with network access, ensuring that no member is excluded because of security or connectivity challenges,” Basiru said.

He said all APC members are required to complete digital registration by January 31, 2026 noting that failure to comply will result in removal from party rolls.

“This is a fresh start, a new testament. No ghost members, no duplicates, only verified names linked to NIN, phone, and voter ID,” he emphasised.

Basiru further noted that the digital overhaul supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and enables data-driven campaign planning.
