The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has extended the deadline for applications for the 2025/2026 academic session to February 27, 2026, giving prospective beneficiaries nearly an extra month to complete their submissions.
The extension, which shifts the earlier deadline of January 31, 2026, was announced in a statement signed by the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, on Thursday.
The move, according to the Fund, is aimed at ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is denied access to the scheme due to time constraints.
Speaking on the decision, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr Akintunde Sawyerr, said the extension underscores the Fund’s commitment to inclusivity and equal access to education financing.
“This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund,” Sawyerr said.
NELFUND urged students who have yet to apply, as well as those who have started but not completed their applications, to take advantage of the extended window and ensure that all required information is submitted on or before the new deadline.
The Fund added that further updates and relevant information would continue to be communicated through its official channels.
