Nigeria, Türkiye Collaborate on Joint Research and Innovation Financing

As part of the official visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Republic of Türkiye, the Nigerian Government is advancing discussions aimed at strengthening research-to-market pathways between both countries.

In a press release by the Ministry Head, of Press Mrs Pauline Sule, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, SAN emphasised the Nigerian Government’s resolve to move beyond research for knowledge sake and focus on innovation that delivers measurable economic and social impact.

“He noted thatTürkiye’s success in commercialising research through effective technology transfer and strong private-sector engagement provides valuable lessons for Nigeria.”

According to the Minister, Nigeria is developing a clear and actionable framework to support research-to-market pathways between both countries.

Udeh stated that the collaboration will prioritise joint research and development, innovation financing, capacity building, startup incubation, and industrial scale-up.

These efforts are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem, promote industrialisation, and enhance competitiveness in the global technology space.

He reiterated that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, which places innovation, science, and technology at the heart of economic diversification and sustainable development.
