The African Democratic Congress (ADC) party National Chairman, Senator David Mark, has charged the newly inaugurated members of the ADC Policy and Manifesto Committee to work with intellectual rigour, moral clarity, and a deep sense of national duty.’
Senator Mark gave the Charge in Abuja, the nation’s capital after the members took the oath of allegiance at the party’s headquarters.
Senator Mark said they must be prepared not only to win power, but to justify power through service. “The ADC must be known not for noise, but for seriousness. Not for empty promises, but for performance, not for propaganda, but for reality,” he added.
“Today, is not the end of a process. It is the beginning of a responsibility. I expect you to break into sub-committees in line with your areas of competency. The committee should feel free to co-opt experts and professionals who can add value to this critical assignment.”

While accepting the responsibility, the Chairman of the committee, Dr. John Oyegun, assured the ADC Chairman of their commitments.
“On behalf of all the members of this committee, I want to thank the leadership of the party for the honour, because it is an honour that you have done to us, to put us in charge of such a new development in this nation.”
‘Your speech has made everything clear, and I want to assure you that we will treat this as a bible for the exercise that we have been asked to undertake. It is clear that, from what you have said, every word in this speech, that it cannot, will not, and must not be business as usual in a nation that is governed by the the ruling party, and by the divine mercy of the almighty, we will take over power in this nation.”
“You have made it very clear, I really would have said, but that is for my committee to do, to have adopted your speech and said, fine, that is really the guideline by which we should work.”
“What you are asking us to do is to get a message, policies, proposals that will attract the entire population of the country that have given up. They haven’t thrown themselves fully 100% into our net yet, they are watching everything that we do”
“The charge you have given us is that we should help the party develop policies, help the party come out with manifesto, that we make everybody in this country see, as the years go by, what difference an ADC government is making to their lives. And that is something I want to promise you, we will accept.”
