The perfect start for Interim manager Michael Carrick has come to an end, as Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened West Ham in their Premier League match, at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.
The opening 45 minutes was a defensive masterclass from Nuno Espírito Santo’s West Ham, who successfully nullified Manchester United’s attack.
West Ham broke the deadlock just five minutes into the second half following a slick counter-attack. Jarrod Bowen delivered a pinpoint low cross into the box and midfielder Tomáš Souček ghosted between the defenders to flick the ball past goalkeeper Lammens.

The home side were seconds away from a fourth win in five league games, but were stunned in the final moments of the game.
Manchester United’s Benjamin Sesko scored a stoppage-time equaliser to deny 18th-placed West Ham United a 1-0 win.

The 1-1 draw kept United in fourth place although it ended caretaker manager Michael Carrick’s 100% record since taking over in January.
Manchester United have 45 points, one more than Chelsea who will be kicking themselves after drawing 2-2 with Leeds United.

“It is a tough place to come and we didn’t have that sharpness to find the answers,” Carrick said. “Great spirit again and we will take the point and move on.”
Tuesday’s Premier League results
