Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement waiving visa requirements for holders of Diplomatic and Official/Service Passports, a move aimed at easing official engagements and strengthening bilateral relations between both countries.

The agreement was signed on the side-lines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, signed the agreement on behalf of Nigeria, while the Angolan Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Tete Antonio  signed for Angola.

The visa waiver agreement is expected to significantly facilitate diplomatic and official interactions by removing administrative barriers for government officials and diplomats of both countries.

It is also anticipated to enhance cooperation across various sectors through more seamless official exchanges.

This development aligns with broader continental efforts to promote mobility, strengthen institutional collaboration, and advance Africa’s integration agenda, in line with the African Union’s vision of closer political and economic ties among member states.
